About Skellefteå Innovation District
Skellefteå Innovation District is an initiative within the municipality of Skellefteå, in northern Sweden – a region undergoing one of Europe’s most extensive industrial transformations. More than SEK 120 billion is being invested in Skellefteå, and over SEK 1 trillion across the north. Set in Arctic Sweden, the area combines large-scale industrial development with clean energy, forests, coastline, and a rich cultural life – offering both business opportunity and a high quality of life.
The district brings together companies, researchers and public actors in a growing environment for innovation and sustainable business development. With access to 100 % renewable energy, close proximity between key players, and a mindset built on collaboration, ideas can move quickly from concept to implementation.
